Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two alleged arms dealers from the Panchbhulot border area in Sharsha, Jessore. The raid led to the recovery of two pistols, two empty magazines, and a mobile phone.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Mojit (48), son of the late Imam, and Ichcha Sardar (50), son of Robiul Sardar—both residents of Panchbhulot village under Sharsha police station.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Khurshid Anwar, commanding officer of BGB Khulna 21 Battalion, stated that the arrests were made following a tip-off about illegal arms being stored at a civilian residence within the Panchbhulot Border Outpost (BOP) area.
A team led by the battalion’s deputy commander and acting quartermaster raided the home of Abdul Mojit. He was apprehended on the spot. Upon interrogation, Mojit confessed and led the team to his yard, where a cache wrapped in polythene was buried underground. The concealed weapons were recovered from there.
Based on further information from Mojit, BGB conducted an immediate follow-up raid at the residence of Ichcha Sardar, a fellow villager. Sardar was also arrested, and another pistol along with magazines was recovered from near his cattle shed.
The seized items are valued as follows:
-
Two pistols: BDT 200,000
-
Two magazines: BDT 10,000
-
Mobile phone: BDT 10,000
-

Lt. Col. Khurshid Anwar emphasized that BGB will continue such operations to curb the smuggling of arms, drugs, and other contraband across the country’s border areas.
